I am going to look at one, ad says, 9', fair coondition, good rolls, $150. Anyone know whoo made these, are they any good. How much do they weigh and can I pull one with a strong running 9n Ford?

Thanks in advance for any help,

Jeff

owatonna made their own haying equip. they were later bought out by gehl. 9ft of haybine is way too much for a 9n ford. it takes about 45hp at the minimum to run.

Don't most haybines require a remote cylinder ? That might be a problem for your 9N ... I used to pull an IH 2A hay conditioner with my Jubilee, and it was a pain in the a** to have to use a ratchet jack instead of a cylinder.

You will not pull a 9', verry, verry light hay possibly a 7', have both a 9N and 2N, would not do it, 9' Case was load for a Jubile

They were made by the Owatanna Tool Co. of Owatanna, MN. I think O.T.C. was bought out by Gehl as I was able to get a manual for the Owatanna mower-conditioner that I had from the local Gehl dealer. It worked OK, but I like the New Holland 479 that I have now better. I bought it for $300 at a farm auction & sold it for $75 at a consignment sale which further illustrates my opinion of it.

Although the Ford posters here have great confidence in their machines, I think this thing might be a bit heavy for a 9N. Dunno about your power -- my MF 165 had no difficulty.

I had one, a Farmall H could pull it, but without anything to spare. Parts are available from Gehl dealers. Make sure the knife moves easily in the guards, the drive train isn't very strong and if it binds the whole thing will break apart (trust me).
