I bought a used one from the farm owner's son-in-law when I bought this place in '72. Light duty, rather primitive by todays's standards, but still useable on a thrower rack now.

Leo, Wards sold three duty gears until sometime in the 60's. I'll guess they were 4ton, 6ton,and 8 ton gears. Pretty good gears, I still use a light duty under a flatrack. I think they were made by Electric Wheel.

I have a 1949 Montgomery Wards catalogue. Yes they sold running gears. Wards Lo-Load wagon gear. Capacity 5000 lbs for general work up to 40 M.P.H. 6000 lbs for field work at tractor speeds. Gear with 6.00-16 4 ply tires. $180.60 Without tires $119.00

I have 2 running gears from Sears. I think they are around the same capacity as the Wards, but i use them like a 6 ton made today all the time.

Could you possibly scan the page(s) from the catalog and send me them? I am kind of a history nut and would like to have the info.

Thanks,

Leo
