A Dealer should have a parts listing that would give all the dimentions and what they were used for, I know John Deere has a 32 page book on that as I have one, If IHC does not have you could measure the size of the openings, Length-Width-Thickness, and shape of the openings and use that to go to the JD book to find what that seed plate would be for. Also the Lincoln plastic plates may convert the IHC no. to dimensions

Okla/Kans Bill, I can't answer your question because I have limited experience but I can share what I know. We have often set a plate in and then taken the kernels of corn and checked to see how they measured up to the plate sizes, trying to find the best plate for the size of the kernel. I plant sweet corn and from year to year and variety to variety there can be quite a difference in size, so we play with the plates to find one that will allow only one kernel per the size of the notch in the plate. I have an I-H 56 planter with about 6 sets of plates and we just line up the best fit. Now my friends that are usually around plant a lot of corn and they help me this way...doesn't sound too scientific does it?...works though...Mike in Exeter Ontario

I use a seed plate that plants 1 to 2 seeds of sweet corn at a time. This year I am going to use a seed plate to plant 2 to 3 seeds of sweet corn at a time to try to make up for losses due to black birds and crows. The bird problem is my biggest problem right when the corn starts spiking up out of the ground.

Thanks, Ray in Pa.
