I bought a 504I about 3 years back and have had good luck with it. I figured out that the first owner didnt have it set up by the dealer as the bale size was way off and I was overmaxing the baler most of the first season. Now have that set so it indicates 5ft and goes into red before things start rubbing where there not supposed to. Now I am wondering if I need the belts resized and springs replaced. A neighbor says he had a local dealer redo his and it made a world of difference on bale compaction and ease of bale starting. I helped my bale compaction when I removed the bubble plates from the chamber (for damp hay?). I wonder if its worth the investment. He payed over a grand for the redo. Thanks for opinions Ric

They recomend to have the belts re-sized every year. I do mine every two years,it makes a big difference in the tightness of the roll.I take the belts out myself and let the dealer cut and relace them for me.Last time I think it cost me around 125.00 to have this done. Its not a very hard task.Just make sure to run a piece of twine around the belt routing before you remove the last belt,it makes it easier to re-install them.Springs would depend on how much hay has been thru the baler and if there has ever been a roll left in the baler for longer period of time than it should have been. Hope this helps. David
