Looking for some advice on batwing mowers. I'd like to find a used one this spring. I know good things about the Bushog brand, and the J.D. I never see those for sale used. Any other brands that might prove out? Mike D.

Whatever brand, make sure it has more than 2 u-joints in pto shaft; got Brillion 1000 RPM with only 2 u-joints. Takes about 5 acres to turn it around and the joints will still chatter, if you're not careful.

Don't know about the market area you are in but here there are no "gently used" units. Even the units that look good may have 10,000 hrs on them. I got a new 15' Bush Hog brand (medium duty) for $8800.00 2 yrs ago. My well used (read POS) '91 Rhino brought $3800 trade in and the dealer sold it for $5000.00.
