I've found a Woods Bros. one row corn picker and its in good shape---what would be a fair price to offer for it? Thanks.

One of my friend's husband was wondering...he has a Woods Bros one row corn picker. Underneath the Woods Bros it says Deerborn. (sp?) He was wondering what color they originally were. If any of you have a website of a picture of one, I would greatly appreciate the information.
Thanks

I was to a auction last October and seen one sell that had always been inside and would probably been able to be used if every thing was greased up. It brought $495, I thought this was extremely high but talked to a gentleman at the sale and he said that was the going price here in Nebraska. He said the mauals bring alot also. I had never seen one before around here and maybe the guy was blowing smoke but that is what it brought. Hope I helped you.

I havnt seen a Woods Bros Picker in nearly 50 yrs. Dad got one in the late 50s. It did alright, but, the little cross elevator, it would get corn husks caught under it and jam up. Dad put a wood guide over the chain, ad it helped, but it still occasionally would still jam. He traded this around 1961 for a IHC #24 2 row mounted picker. He had this on a 48 H. It proved to nearly be too much for the H. But at least we didnt have to open the field up in a 1/2 doz different places. Good luck

I bought three of these 2 years ago. Even the "runner" was a parts machine, but we got the corn out before spring plowing. If you buy this one and need parts, I'll sell you all you want for what I paid--$40 + shipping.

Mike

PS. I also have a tool that my grandfather said was used to adjust the snapping rolls on these things, but I have no Idea how it works.

Here in southern MN, I don't see many 1 row pickers at all, & the few I see go for scrap price at auctions. There is some interest of late from collectors, but more gossip & comments than any real bidding. $50 is a lot 'here'.

I hear in some locations folks are asking over $500 for a good one, so your question is a difficult one! I guess it depends on location & the desires of the buyer & seller.... Extremely variable.

I bought a good one at an auction two years ago for 185.00. They are a neat old machine and were one of the best back in the 50's. I am located in Southern Wis. Have fun with it.
