Could anybody "walk" me thru the proper procedure for replacing a broken rod and cutting hammer on a New Holland Model 354 Grinder/Mixer. Hogs are hungry, I'm cold and grinder needs to be repaired in a hurry. Thanks

Keith, we sure don't want those hogs to go hungry do we? This repair job just might warm you up in a hurry in more ways than one if you know what I mean. Keith, to this day, I still need to open up an operators manual to see just how those hammers and spacers go in. The hammers are spaced differently on each rod to do a better job of grinding. Now, each rod should have roll or drive pins in each end keeping them from moving sideways. Please use these hardened pin and not just cotter pins. Without the manual to determine the proper spacing, I cannot just tell you exactly how that particular rod should have the hammers spaced on it. However, if you have no manual, just slap them in there the best you can and MAKE SURE you have ALL the hammers and spacers required so the mill is balanced!! Even if they are not spaced properly, You won't damage anything as long as the mill is balanced. An unbalanced mill is NOT good!!! Have fun and contact me if you are still stuck. I check email every day. Steve
