I have been reading the archives about laying pipe with a sub-soiler. One post said to use muffler pipe. My question is, will the muffler pipe be strong enough.
Thanks

I use 2" galvanized water pipe. Have a 1 shank subsoiler, on the back side of the cutting edge is a 4.5' pc of galvanized pipe, at about 1' from the bottom it turns back at approximately th same angle as the pitch forward of the subsoiler foot. Can lay black plastic pipe (oragneburg), up to 1" diameter, about 24" deep.

It is easy as falling off a log. I start off by digging a hole with post hole digger, hole depth should be a few inches deeper that you want pipe depth. I just tied a piece of nylon cord(1850 lb tensil strength) to the bottom of subsoiler(might have to rig a place to tie to) then I glue a cap on 1/2 inch pvc pipe, added weight to top of subsoiler approx 150lbs( to make sure it stays down).I was able to bury 300 ft. in about 5 minutes, at slow speed. Everyone watching was amazed at how the pipe was going in so easy. Like a snake going in a hole. Good luck
