I am going to an auction with a Winpower running gear. The model is either a 582 or a S82. Does anyone know what size gear this is? I looks to be a 5-ton, but I am not sure.

More important: What size and type of tires does it have?

I bought a gear like that for a hayrack. IT HAD 195-70r14 passenger car tires on it. Tires of that size are good for about 1600lbs each.

What you want are 9.5Lx15 or 11Lx15 implement tires.

I mention this, because I have seen more than a few wagon gears of this general type and make at a local consignment auction. Nearly ALL of them have the 14" passenger car tires on them (worthless).

Also---there might still be the manufacturer's decal on the wagon gear and most of them say what the weight rating for the gear is.

Good luck.
