I stopped at a local dealer's yard yesterday to look at a piece of hay equipment. This particular piece of equipment was in good condition and appeared well maintained except for the rollers. The rubber covering on the rollers and the "bumps" to crush and crimp the hay were worn off in the center of the rollers. They still were looking at around $2000. This seems high to me for the condition of the rollers. How expensive is it to replace these rollers and how much work is involved? I was thinking that $1000 would be a good offer if I can buy and replace rollers for another $1000. Mike in Exeter Ontario

You won't buy rolls and bearings for $1000, either US or Canadian. Check out the wobble box and the rear end of the tongue where it is pinned to the trailframe. Two big trouble spots on 489's.

About $1500 just for parts.

Hi Ironpeddler, I was just curious what kind of price tag would be on that particular machine. You are too far away from me, I think about 12 hours to Tennessee from southern Ontario but it looks like a good machine...just curious....Mike in Exeter Ontario

If we gotta call for the price, it must be hefty.
