Y'all...I recently bought a New Idea 7 ft sickle mower. It apparently had been a pull-type, but somebody has converted it to 3-pt/PTO. I've looked for any identification, but don't find much.

On the top of the gear case casting is New Idea or NI - don't recall which, and the town/state where it was made. There is also a NI on the sheet metal cover plate over the box adjacent to the gear case, I assume intended for spare guards and blades. It looks like there may have been other information on that cover, but it's weathered enough to not be readable.

From that limited information, can anybody provide any identification? How about other info - any quirks, hints, etc.?

Thanks!

New Idea was made in Coldwater, Ohio. Now part of AGCO.
