Where can one find new square head bolts and nuts??? Attempting to restore some old implements that have all square headed bolts. Some are missing and others worn. I would be great to have a match rather than some hex head and some square. Any suggestions and leads?

Try McMaster-Carr.com Catalog is on line. Can phone or e-mail an order. I got some rear wheel bolts for my WR9 McCormick-Deering. Roger

Ed,

I get mine from Fastenal. Good outfit to work with and they carry 95% of the origional sizes.

I have attached a link to their web site.

Hope this info helps you out.

There is an ad in the latest Red Power for someone selling square headed bolts. The ad is Norman Jackson, 317-462-9402. I have been able to buy smaller squared head nuts at our local hardware store but I can't remember if they have the larger ones or not.

Keep your eye on the "junk wagons" at auctions.
I acquired several lifetimes worth of square-head 1/2" bolts for $4 earlier this fall. The bad news is I was hoping for more 3/8 stock, but I got 1/2.

Frank,

Check out the link I gave above. If you need some 3/8 inch in a hurry I have a bolt bin full right now.

My 2 bits worth,

What does the hardness rating of "S", "E" and "U" mean on the raised lettering on square headed bolts?
