I might be going to look at one.
What do you think of them. And at auction what do you think might be a fair price?

See the post by "Steve from N.H. Pa" on January 17, 2002.
He gave a good description of the 310 problem area. I still bought one and it worked well for me during the last haying season.

Thanks. I went back and looked.
Did you run yours at the lower pto speed?
I may go to this auction any way and see if it goes cheap enough I might get it any way.
OH no!!! does that mean I will have become a NH baler collector?

Yup, I ran it at about 65 strokes/minute.
Both Steve from NH and the local mechanic who checked my unit out advised lower RPM than standard PTO speed. The farmer I got it from reported that the original buyer had been his father-in-law, who ALSO said that it should be run slower than at standard. There appears to be a pattern here.

Here in SE Wisconsin, price with thrower will be about $1100 on up, depending on: condition, dealer vs private party or auction, etc.
