Tubeless tires that are not holding air

I have a small utility trailer that I use around the place for hauling hay, wood and other things. It has the small utility trailer tires that are tubeless and are no longer holding air. The local tire shop said that the wheel is getting too rusted and pitted to make a good seal. I can go buy another new wheel or get a tube. The wheel itself does not appear to be badly rusted at all. It appears to be more surface rust. The wheel is painted and so it is not in bad shape, just does not seal well. Is it worth it to get a can of tire sealant, or tire slime like they use on bicycle tires, a tube or a new wheel?

If it is just pitted at the sealing area at the bead...I use Black Silicone form-a-gasket on the rim....where the bead will seat... Then, when the tire seats, it won't leak at the bead... Many of those small tires are so thin that they crack and won't hold air...I think it gets right thru the side-wall..!! Good tire sealer, or "Slime" will help, there...just don't use the cheapy cans....that cheap stuff will freeze, and/or cause rust....!!!

I had flat problems on my little trailer even before the wheels rusted. Bought some of that tire slime after a year of suffering, and they haven't gone flat since. I have now put it into the two little garden tractors, too. Good stuff.

Anytime I run into this situation, I just get a tube put in the tire. Problem solved.
