Farmered and Old Iron. Thanks for you input on weight.700-800 seems about right. Towed on the trailer easily. Turned out to be a stationary unit.Just what I was looking for! What I grew up calling a Silo Filler. Blower wheel with knives fed by a apron in a hopper. In nice shape.Extra set of knives and a set of gears (Feed speed?)in a wooden box. Fellow I got it from had used it to chop hay for his donkeys. Took good care of it. Sat under a leanto most of its life. He even added a PTO drive to it so it can be either PTO or belt driven. Now I need to know more about Papec and this chopper. When did Papec close down? Any idea how to tell how old it is? Fellow I got it from guessed late 1930's I would appreciate any info.

Seem's Papec called them Crop Blowers. Don't know when they went out of business,But I have a Master Parts Price List from Papec that is dated February 25,1979. The one's we had.One run off a belt pulley, the apron table had a chain like a manure spreader's,the other one could be run with a belt pulley or a PTO,the apron table had a belt like a belt conveyor. One of the manual's I have,Is for Papec Number's 40 & 40H crop blower's. They can be run with a belt pulley or a PTO,the apron table has a conveyor type belt.As far as date's.I have a No.31 manual dated January 1950,(run with belt pulley only) Papec has a two digit phone number. For the No.40 & 40H they have a four digit phone number. The main office & factory was in Shortsville,New York. They also had factory's in Kansas City,Kansas and Indianapolis,Indiana.

Sounds like you do have a silo filler (stationary) as opposed to a field chopper. Papec made field choppers many years after the silo fillers. Would guess late 60s, early 70s for the field choppers. Had a reputation for good machines. Silo filler might date into the 50s. I think they were made in Wisconsin.
