Does anyone know where I can buy a belt for a Woods Finishing Mower, model RM 306. My local dealer wants over $200 for one. Thanks for your help. Brian

I would definitely try Grainger (www.grainger.com). They carry an enormous variety of belts and other power transmission equipment. I got a couple heavy-duty 77" V-belts from them for my finish mower - $17 apiece. You can get it mail order, but they might have a retail outlet in your area.

By the way, they claim to only sell to businesses, but they've never complained even when I told them I was buying stuff for personal use.

$200? I know Woods belts are expensive. I have a woods 360-3 I'm not sure of the differnce between the two units but my belts run $65-70 from my dealer. I tried going to industrial supply houses and getting a "match" I was getting them for $24 each. Problem was I went through one every 2 or 3 weeks. I would try a different dealer in your area or a different counter person where you first went. The internet is great but I have had a 75% sucess rate ordering stuff over the net.

Brian,

My IH 254 came with a Woods belly mower. I broke a belt and the replacement was $70.00 everywhere I checked. Could not find anyone selling at a discount. This was before I got on-line. Today I would search the web. There are a lot of tractor and farm supply companies selling on-line and it is possible you can find a discount source. A belt does not weigh much and UPS will be insignificant (and you may save sales tax too).

I would also check the local NAPA. They may have a belt for you application. Look at your current belt for a part number. The counter attendant will need it to cross reference.

Incidentally, when my second belt gave up the ghost I traded the Woods on a tow behind mower with a much simpler and much shorter belt drive.

Good luck.
