About six years ago, I bought a 1962 N.H 1280 self propelled baler. At the time, I thought the 1280 was the first self propelled baler. Now I find out their was two model's before it.The 166 and the 178. What I would like to know,is if any one might know of any of these older model's ?Maybe stached out behind someone's barn'or even in a museum.Or maybe someone has a picture they can post on this sight.Dont care what shape it's in. I just want to see one. Thank's in advance.

Dan-Pa. I live about 35 miles southeast of Rochester N.Y..Do you take your 166 to any of the show's around your area? If so, which show's? If not,Maybe you could let me know of the show's in your area. Then maybe I could swing over to your place and get a look at it.I try to hit a couple of show's in Pa. every year. So I don,t think it would be too far out of my way. Thank's George

I was at the GSR show in Oct. in McConnellsburg,Pa.& it is at the Huntingdon County Fair in August. There were only 305 built in 1956-1957.I know of 4 others- 1 is 100% restored, I use mine .

Darn! Me and the ol'lady was talking bout going to the Grease,Steam and Rust Assy. show this last season. But we did'nt make it.Well, I think we'll try a little harder next year. I'm glad to hear you still use the ol'166.I don't get to use the 1280 much. I live in town. I did bale about 1000 bale's a couple year's ago when my father's baler broke down. The 1280 ain't got a lot of paint left on her. But I still take it up to the Pageant of Steam in Canandaigua every August.

There are 2 166 balers around me in Pa, T.J. Weary Inc in Lancaster and Keiters farm machinery in Halifax, none of these are for sale, Keiters also have a 178.

A year or 2 ago someone had some pics of these things, they were on one of the bigger 'farm machinery for sale' sites. While I'm sure those specific ones are no longer listed, it is kinda fun to scout through those sites, never know what you see! :) www.farmtrader.com & the like.
