good for 38"-42" rows. Depending on how far tractor tires stick out, might do 36".

The center divider is too wide, and would knock the stalks around too much, causing ear drop, plus I don't think the tractor would be narrow enough. If you want to pick 30" rows, best thing would be to find a New Idea 325 2-row narrow pull-type.

i have knocked the idea around myself some. best thing to do is have a little experimental plot where you can test for yourself wether narrow rows are worth the trouble on your farm.for small acreages and plus the enjoyment of using an old mounted picker, it may not justify messing with narrow rows.when they say it should yield aproximately 5-10% more. they mean on an average. some years it might yield a lot more some not significant or not enough to be worth the trouble. since most guys use narrow rows for the advantage of higher bean yields, they also use the same equipment for corn or used to. personally ,wiith being able to interseed a cover crop between rows of corn and the pleasure of an old mounted picker, i say do what ever makes you happy! life is too short to please the bean counters. no pun intended.! lol one guy took a 4 row combine corn head and made himself a 4 row mounted picker with it.the trouble with the 33 picker is the gear boxes and the way they're all placed together in the housing .actually the wd is 19" wide which if you made a picker would fit between 30 " rows. this has been a passion of mine for sometime. i would like to make a picker that would do that . just for the satisfaction of it .i definitly need to get a life!! lol
