Hey fellas, got a question for you concerning some not some old stuff. My father-in-law has a John Deere 220 disk (20 ft) he is considering trading for a White Model 271 (28ft) and I was wondering if any of you guys have some experience with the White, and if there is anything in particular we should be aware of? Any info is sure appreciated!! Thanks again!!

Jason

A White disc won't stand up to good in rocky areas, arbors will break. probaly be all rite in light sandy ground,,my experiance with a White disc anyway.

Discs of any make can be good or poor. It all depends on the guy doing the ordering. There is a vast amount of bearing, arbor, disc blades, etc. options when ordering. If dealer ordering didn't know his stuff, any disc can turn out damn poor.

In the surrounding area where I grew up IH and Deere discs were considered junk, and it was only because the guy ordering, ordered junk.

Did the arbors break on the fixed position arbors, or the flexible arbors?

The White disc was about a twenty foot tandem, I'm sure there was some flexibility, However something was always breaking on it, it was not as heavy duty as the IH disc that replaced it. Your JD disc is better built than any White equipment.
