I was wondering if any of younz could help me identify this sickle bar. The only numbers I can find on it are: MTB268 It's painted green...but as ya'll know that doesn't mean much. Are there any other sites where I can find out more about them? It's a real fixer up, rusted bad.

I don't know too much about sickle bars so I'm guessing by tail wheel you mean a wheel like on a brush hog, nope just the 3pt. It is belt driven from the pto gear box to the pulley that drives the pitman arm. From the look of things I'd guess the pitman arm would be around 2' or so long, I need to go take another look at it to know for sure.

Oliver mower part numbers were usually 6-digit (like 5MO-355), don't know about Deere. You'll find these cast into most of the parts on Olivers. Does it have a belt-driven, counter-ballanced flywheel with a short (8") wooden pitman arm driving the cutting knife? Is this drive flywheel in line with the cutting bar pivot? The only Oliver 3-point mower I know of was the #355. It has the above features and a large curved bar for the mainframe. Mine was pretty faded too...thought it was a Deere for a while.

Light green, or dark green, or too faded to tell?

Drawbar mount, 3-point, or belly mount?

5', 6', or 7' bar?

Wobble drive, pitman drive?

3 pt, pitman drive (wood is broken), belive it is a 5' bar. Almost looks like old faded john deere green. It was given to me when I bought my Farmall 504, the previous owner is a big Oliver nut and bought it thinking it was and oliver sickle bar. But after further inspection decided it's not.
