Kubota L3450DT Drawbar

I am wondering, why did Kubota manufacture the L3450 tractor for marketing in the U.S. without a standard SAE drawbar? Is it just my tractor, or was this model equipped this way as standard? I'm starting to get frustrated- trying to run drawbar towed implements needing PTO power, and only have 12 in. from end of stub shaft to center of hitch hole. (I've tried all the positions.) Looks like I might have to have our machinist buddy make me a little longer one with the hole in the correct spot... Did they do this to prevent inexperienced people pulling loads too heavy for the tractor's capacities? I think that the JD compacts had a SAE drawbar, because I'm trying to set-up a JD 350 sickle mower, and it appears to need those extra two inches of drawbar (3pt mower, but lift mech. uses drawbar). Ahh!

Thanks for any input. Just wanted to ask here first before I question the dealer. Sorry to be so long winded.

Thanks, Kenneth

I've always considered the drawbar of a tractor to be the pulling hitch on the back, some are fixed, some are swinging, they come from below the rear end.

The 3-point is not a drawbar in my agricultural background.

So, I'm a little confused because you talk about both the drawbar & the 3-point (with the mower).

Which is it that is too close to the pto? It should be pretty simple to make an extenstion for the draw bar.

3-point equipment has a whole host of 'standards' plus many folks who didn't follow any standards, so you are kind of on your own with a 3-point implement.

The mower hooks to the 3-pt, and the mechanism that lifts the cutterbar while in the mowing position utilizes a frame attached to a standard drawbar- the point from which wheeled machines are towed. As it is, my drawbar hole is 12 inches from the end of the PTO stub shaft (the necessary length is 14 inches for 540 RPM operation- of concern (or I think it is a concern- being specified in all of the implement and tractor manuals) when I get ready to operate my JD PTO manure spreader and NH PTO baler. The portion of the sickle mower attaching to the drawbar appears to need the extra 2 inches (12-14inch) to hook-up. Thank you for your reply and assistance.

Ok, I'm going to sound really dumb, so please bear with me. This is like asking the guy with a lamp, "Well, did you plug it in?" Don't mean to be insulting, just asking the obvious....

I'm not at all familiar with Kubota 'L' series. Many tractors with a swinging drawbar have a pin under the tractor belly, and the drawbar has several holes in it to adjust it's length. Yours wouldn't happen to be an adjustable one? Or perhaps you can get different length drawbars?

Just adjustments forward backward, but none at the right spot. I'm looking into finding a longer drawbar. Thanks so much for your insights, Kenneth
