Jeff sum of the heavier blades you cant raze up very hi sow you mite wont to consider that I have a bush hog (70-08 on a Ford 4000)and I love it but the mold board it pretty high and when the lift is all the way up I only have about 12 inches from the ground to the cutting edge the lighter blades have a shorter mold board sow you can raze up higher and the high mold board makes it IMPOSIBLE to adjust the top link angle sow I can get a better bite into the ground just some thing to consider

One thing you need to consider is how often will you need to swing the blade around and use it in the opposite direction? Sometimes a 7' blade will hit the rear tire, preventing you from rotating it 180 degrees. This problem does not occur if the pivot point of the blade is far enough back from the 3pt hitch. Also, you can get around the problem sometimes by tilting the blade first then rotating it. When shopping for a back blade, size is just one thing to look for. You will usually be happier with a blade that has more adjustments available (tilt, rotate, angle, offset, etc). Even if you have no use now for some of these options, the occasion will eventually arise when you will say "I wish I could adjust this blade this way!" Of course, as the adjustment options rise, so does the price generally.

I don't know what's "best" but I have a 6' and power is more than adequate so I s'pose it could handle a 7' without much problem. In fact, I hit a staked-in railroad tie once and bent the mounting bracket on my blade with her, and had to take it to a machine shop to straighten. :-)
