276 is a superior model, its feeder is higher capacity than 273, makes good shape bales. it is even better capicity than the later 315 which breaks a lot of shear bolts.

The 276 is a higher capacity machine than a 273, in other words more strokes per minute, I have both machines and both are excellent, (even without packer forks).

These are same age balers 276 little larger. I would stay away from any early New Holland because of no packer fork. I n those years I would stay with Deere. I have run both.

I would personally stay away from an early John Deere baler. We had one and the knotter was unrepairable, despite the best efforts of a John Deere mechanic who spent lots of time in the field with us. Except for the weak knotter it was ok otherwise.

350 Don. Said knotter was unrepairable on Deere baler. What part was it? Never heard of such a thing.

Jimbo, You said buying it for spare. What are you using now? New Holland now uses a packer fork in later models, what does that tell you. I still would stay with Deere in those years. You see lots of articles in this sight and other hay sights about banana bales thats why. They say Deere has knotter trouble. They use same setup both brands basically. Only difference in those years New Holland is chain driven Deere gear driven.
