Mine is still running fine and will pump out bale after bale. That is AFTER I went through it and put everything I could back 'in specs'. (It was really abused in its later years)

That's the key, to have everything adjusted properly and well tuned.. In that state I think they will run with any baler in their class.

I think AGCO is still making this model, (or one very, very similar) except it is badged as a Gehl.

All current AGCO offerings are Hesston-designed centerline balers, sold under the Hesston and New Idea brands. Gehl is not part of AGCO. Gehl did build a small-square, but quit a few years ago.

i have one and I will put mine in the feild with any other brand .the last time I baled 1200 bales it missed two ties as far as parts I go to massey dealer and get what Ineed. I had a little trouble with it once I myself threaded it wrong and it would miss one out of every four. the string tension is critial. the knotters have the least moving parts than the other baler including the model10 I like mine very well Jerry

I've been battling a 124 all summer. I may actually have it ready to work again, but I'll have to wait until I have hay to bale before I know for sure. Good point would be if you can get it really cheap. Otherwise, look for something else. Bad point: parts are hard to find and expensive. The knotter is a different design than most other makes and that's what has been giving me headaches. On the other hand, if you are already familiar with MF balers, maybe you'll be OK.
