I just ordered a spindle and bearings for my 8 ton Hercules wagon made by PK Manufacturing in Nebraska. Even though they do not have an outlet in my state of New York, they tagged on 5% sales tax. I asked them about it, and they said that Nebraska passed legislation requiring them to charge the sales tax. Is this true? This is the first time I've even encountered this! Thanks!

I live in Nebraska. We send parts all over the world and the only place that we charge sales tax to are the people who live in Nebraska.

Don't know if its true...but I would return the parts and buy from somewhere else, even if it cost me more money...principal of the thing. Once business's start feeling the impact, then the legislators will start filling the impact, and reverse the law (assuming its true). This kind of thing needs nipped in the bud, and it has to be done quickly for impact.

Jim is exactly right, send um back if ye can. Don't pay sales tax if ye don't have to.

If them Elvis Presley looking television pay for view preachers are tax exempt in all 50 states then why in blazes do we need to pay tax on farm equipment.

The way it was explained to me the only internet or phone orders parts to be taxed would be when they ship to a state that charges tax and they would have to send it to the buyer's home state. So far I have'nt had to pay taxes on any out-of-state farm related purchases.

If that's true for all out-of-state sales them folks just stole the tax money cause they'll have to keep it since the buyer's state don't charge tax.

I attached a link to the Ne tax site. It says farm equipment like the wagon is exempt if you fill out a tax-exemption form 13.
