Does anyone have a commit on this brand of mower. I will need to buy another disk mower between now and next spring. I noticed that there is quite a price differance between Moora and other brands. Morra is 1/3 less.

Is this a cast of "you get what you pay for" or is this brand worth a try?

Thanks for any commits.

yes you do get what you pay for...running a morra and a kuhn 700 hd now.. the morra has had its problems but the support has been great..they even replaced the whole mower once..before that i ran kuhn and new idea...new idea had its problems for us also...bearing went out first season and after that i replaced about 2 a year, till 4 years replaced gear box and also had already replaced the hex shafts with one long one..the hex shafts wear a little on each one and by the time you get to the end there is a lot of difference...kuhn is finishing its 4th season and has very little done to it..so yes you get what you pay for...oh yes i commerically bale hay so they cover a lot of ground ...if you are just baleing your own morra would work great.....

Have a few friends that bought them, seem to be alright. I have some real reservations about longivity. After a 4 year experiment with a Bush Hog brand of gear drive disc mower and a couple of years before that with a Deere gear drive I went with New Idea's shaft drive. My dad has worn out 3 of the New Idea mowers and they are really worth the extra cost. He got about 3 times the acreage out of each or them compaired to my gear drive mowers and cut circles around me. As with most things, it appears you get what you pay for.

Thanks, I was wondering if the shaft drive was that much better than the gear drive. I was quoted a good price on an M&W with a shaft drive. New Idea seems to have gotton pricy over the past few years.

The M&W does have 1 long shaft. That price one the New Idea is better than what I was given. I guess I need to keep looking for another dealer.

Thanks

I've had two different ones with gear drive and my dad has used a variety of shaft drives. I've watched a progression of the shaft drives and the new design with the short shafts is a definite improvement over the 1 long shaft (2 styles). I'd suspect that M&W is using the long shaft. Bought a NI 5408 for $5975.00 (Saturday). Still pricey but my dad got a 5408 the first year they changed from grey to red and has cut at least 30,000 rocky acres with only 1 broken gear.
