I tightened the kickback adjustment on my mowing machine because it was disengaging in heavy grass. Guess what? About a week later I was mowing a neighbor's "pasture" for him and hit a telephone pole laying in the grass. I bent both bars that carry the head of the mower. The bar on the back was easy to straighten the front bar is not. This is the bar that is about 3" tall and 1" thick. It is welded to a three inch tube that's 2 feet long. I have seen many of these that have been broken and then welded back. Is there a good source of new ones or can you buy them used? Will a weld hold? Thanks for any advice.

If it's a standard 1x3 bar, that should be available at any good welding shop. Does it have bends that need to be duplicated? or at this stage, can you tell here they were- otherwise it should be able to easily cut out the old and weld in the new piece. Then back off your adjustment near to where it used to be.
