I've run across a John Deere (It's painted green and yellow) rope trip 2 bottom plow for sale. The points have seen better days and the moldboards are showing wear. I'm not sure of the model, but it's sitting on rubber tires (factory, not cut offs). I don't know if the lift works. My questions are can you still find the old style points and moldboards (where??) and if the lift needs work, how easy is it to fix. The guy's asking $225. Thanks..... ....

Would be a model 44 unless it has trip standards then a 444, Small frame adjustable 12" or 14", measure 13"; large frame 14" or 16", measure 15"; Some bottom parts possibly, others not, just sold my 44 H, Hydrolic lift, 2 year ago tried getting either 12" 0r 14" shares, only ones avaible were last set of 10" got those, never had them extended. Complete bottoms from a 145 will interchainge, if I had kept was going that route

Craig, we really need a better description of the plow, a few numbers especialy beam numbers if available, to get you on track for the plow model. But the bottoms are pretty much interchangeable among different John Deere plows and if you need points and moldboards, it might be easier to find the correct size bottoms from a later plow at a scrap yard or wherever and go that route. I'm guessing you want to use it to plow. If it is a restoration to show only you might try patching up the bottoms with bondo to look good while you keep an eye out for the right parts. Generally parts for the old implements are where you find them and any "supply" is sold out yesterday if lots of folks know about it. Good luck. Bob

Bob is the most knowledgable on JD plows that I know... Post any numbers you can find on the beams, and other parts - and the best description of the unit you can, he can help, if he notices! (RayP MI)

On the beams of that plow there should be some numbers stamped in with which you can find the model of plow. You might measure the distance from beam to beam that would also be of help. There are a few models that fit in the description you gave. The tire for the trip wheel I hear is pretty expensive. The plows bring anywhere from nearly give away to the price you are talking about depending on it's condition and what sale you are at. Sorry I don't know about parts availability. If you post back with some numbers, that model can be nailed.
