I've some that are like big screws that drive into the log. DON'T USE THESE! They are extremely dangerous if that log gets to spinning.

Several folks make a hydraulic 3 point-hitch mounted wood splitter, with the hydraulic pump driven by the PTO. Got one, works slick. Some folks complain about the cycle time, but I'm not in that big a hurry when I'm splitting wood anyway.

Nortern Tool has the PTO Pumps and all the valves and rams etc to build a log splitter. You'd just need a piece of I or H beam.

I do have a camera, I'll try and get a shot of mine. It's in a back corner of the barn, and pretty dark, but I'll see how it comes out.

the pictures really help. I can see where the top part of the 3-point hooks up at but how do you attatch the bottem 2 arms. do you have a 3inch square tubing or what.how big of a tank are you using. I really appreiciate your help.

There are pins on the end of the piece of 3" angle at the bottom. It's just on top of those two chunks of telephone pole the splitter is sitting on. They're hard to see cuz there's a dark piece of 4x4 right behind them that is holding the splitter up.

The tank holds about 5 gallons. The machine would run on less, but the extra oil helps keep things cool.

The cycle time issue more relates to using the tractors internal hydraulics vs a PTO driven pump. The gal/min on the tractor is around 4 gpm and a PTO pump will run faster than that. For example if you are using a 4" cylinder with a 24 inch stroke then just on volume flow you are looking at a 40 second complete cycle time and with a 12 gpm pump you are looking at 13 seconds. However these old Fords (at least my 2000 with a gear pump) will produce 2500psi and they will split rocks as long as the splitter holds up. they just do it a little slower.
