Were the New Holland 66's any good? I can get one for $100 and was wondering if it is worth buying. Sounds like it works good. What do you think? thanks, Brandon

Just bought one about a month ago and it has been working fine. Alot of people do not like them because the 66 uses a wadboard to pack the chamber full of hay. I would check that out to make sure it is still there and that if possible, try to make it bale. And if you do buy it, do yourself a favor and buy the manual, it will save you some swearing!!

Brandon:

I've got no personal experience with the NH 66, but my neighbor had one and liked it a lot.

My advice is: if you don't know a whole lot about balers, get somebody who does to go with you to look at it. Try to get a demo before you buy, or buy it on some kind of 'trial' basis (will be tough to get an owner do if it is a troublemaker). I've found there's more stuff that can go wrong immediately, and cost you big money than you can dream up...I've bought a couple of 'bargain balers' that have cost me lots of money in repairs and parts, then sold them at a loss just to get them out of my way.

On the other hand, it just might be a decent baler, and then you could be in great shape. Point is: be careful!

Tom
