I have this Big PTO Hydraulic Pump that used to drive the Cylinders for a Back Hoe could something like this be used to drive a Brush Hog with a Hydraulic Motor instead of a PTO Shaft? Or would a large enought motor be real costly to buy? Tring to come up with a use for this pump befor I sell it and regret it later. It bolts to or around the PTO Shaft Output Flange on the tractor Got any thoughts what it could be used for? Mark H.

Farmhand loaders used a pto pump, it would be great to use for a loader on a pre-hydraulic tractor, or run a second hydraulic system.John Ne.

How about a wood splitter? Do not know about a bush hog.Have seen a square nose wc that had one with a home made loader on it. A post driver comes to mind as a possiblity. Is it designed in a way that it could be powered by a truck power take off for a dump bed?

This pump slips over the PTO Shaft but also bolts to the tractor. I do know the Back Hoe had a lot of power to dig with and could dig with a 16 inch bucket. I have the complete back hoe but don't know what to do with it. It bolts up to the 3-point but is not somthing you would take off and on to easy. It uses the lift arms, lower link arms mounts, and the pin holes on the rear end along with the fender stablizer mounts to hold it on the tractor. I did not think anyone would put this on there tractor and was thinking of taking it apart and make something with it instead? This is a real heavy unit not a small one! Mark H.

Mark,

Before I took that thing apart and did something with it I would get some numbers off it and ask here on this forum about it. 3pt Backhoes sell for quite a bit of money and yours might be worth more than you think.

Here is the pump that drives the Hoe. It is over 12 inches long from the PTO Mounting Bolts to the far End of it. Thanks, Mark H.

I have never seen one befor on a tractor. I guess someone who needed one would want it. I have a neibor who has a case Backhoe that dose all my digging for me. The only name I found on it was Hydreco on a name plate on the resivor tank. I do have a lousy picture of it I will post. It dose have a 16 inch bucket and looks like it could dig a deep hole too. Today I will take some better pictures of it. It had chains on it to hold it up because we had to move it and the 8N tractor would not start. Mark H.

Hey Mark, Hydreco was a company that built hydraulic valves. I just found that out on my Hough payloader. I have no idea if they built a back-hoe, but suspect they just built the valves that the hoe-builder used.

I ask this with a _BIG_ smile on my face, and just ribbing you:

Are you NUTS????? ??

:) Ok, back to being serious:

Folks always want 3-point backhoes. Wow, you were going to just scrap it????? You could be sitting on $3000 if all the bushings & hydraulics are good.

Being older, & possibly dedicated to one tractor style, you still should get $500-2000 for the thing complete with the pump.

Sure wish I had one. I _don't_ have the same friends you do, I end up using a shovel.

Check out ebay & search for 'backhoe' to get a feel for what they are worth.
