Jerry,

The parked 542 is a long ways from home and I haven't been back that way since. Didn't hang around to talk to the 'owner', but from his wife's comments and the shape of the baler - don't think it was an accidental accident. Baler was in an area that was definately designated as a 'grave yard' for old worn out & obsolete equipment. There was plenty of room for navigating a tractor and any trailing equipment through the scattered trees. It appeared as a 'well aimed' shot, of high velocity, with intent to kill. Damage (bent steel) extended to the back of the feeder fork trough, upper cover and sheet metal included, it was 'cratered'!

A visual reminder - put it back together 'Right'!

Garry,

That was a wonderful story. Respect is definitely a 2 way street and you returned it to him. I am anxiously awaiting some news about that baler knocking a few out the back. I don't think my side cover has ever been on while I have baled. The grease fittings and the bale counter are under there and you can not lift the lid over the knotters if it is on so I leave mine at the barn. One of my balers did not even have one and they could not find it.

Something I have found in my years of life, all problems are simple once they are fixed. LOL Keep writing these stories. I got a feeling you are a closet writer and enjoy it. You have a good grip on HTML and web sites but your boot looked like sheet rock mud stains. What a combination. Keep us informed.

Jerry,

Writing - no, not a writer nor a 'want to be', just have made a few notes along the way.

Grass is already past its prime, and we have been having a lot of those evening 'heat' storms, so haven't pressed to cut yet.

HTML - just something interesting to play with when time allows.

Got to do something to keep in shape for the off (hay baling) season, so if ya haven't already disected the url's, might as well use the front door. Later

Garry

Garry,

Well you write very well and should continue. You seem to have that rare gift for making the reader feel the story. Thanks for the front door link. I wish you were closer to NC because I have just gotten the building permit to start the addition to the house that will keep me married. I see that Tom is a neighbor and has owned a Ford baler. We got 'em coming out of the closets all over the place now. LOL I did enjoy the website and the hymnal sight was great. I bookmarked that one. Let us know how it goes with that blue boy next week.

Garry you are from Lufkin, I am from Carthage just right up the road from you. I have owned Ford balers beforebut they were to slow but after reading Jerry's story about the timing of the feed forks I am looking for one now to fix up and see how much better it is. I collect New Holland balers and have a good selection so if you know of any junked balers down there either Ford or New Holland let me know,I am always looking for the ones that people have parked from what they call is worn out and give it the tender loving care that it needs. Thanks Tom Ross

Its a joke that Jeff Flaharty and myself started back early this spring when he got his baler running. It is the Ford Blue Baler Association. Nothing significant just the few of us that are running a color other than red or green baler carrying on having a little fun.
