Anyone build a baby tree spade that would be just big enough to be handled by a lawn tractor. My back just can't take hand spading/transplanting anymore :(.

I don't know about a tree spade but I just hire some labors at $7.00 a hour and plant about a thousand trees every spring with two guys in one weekend. The week end before planting I mark out the rows and stick a bamboo stick where I want the tree to go. The next weekend during planting I only have to keep the water and fertilizer coming to the labors and a little supervision. I'll bet the $140.00 is a lot cheaper than the tree spade.

A company called Tree Toad makes several models that can attach to a 3 point, or even tow behind a small car, you have to drive the spades into the ground with a hammer, but it works for smaller (Under 3") trees. Ben Meadows Company has them for sale, under $4,000.
Good luck.
