Looking for all know brands of tedder rakes that I won't need a 3pt. tractor for, especially "affordable" ones. I see a NH model that is a tow type. Thanks for all the help everyone on this board has been, may all of you have green grass and cool shade.

I've got a 4 basket (17-18') New Idea, manuel fold, 2000 model. Bought "gently used" for $2500 in spring 2001. Not the most expensice but definitely the most valuable piece of hay equipment that I own.

If you are wanting a windrow what I described above is NOT it. I've seen some of the rotary rakes that also work as a tedder, haven't been impressed. I much prefer a 5 bar NH 256 to any of the rotary or wheel designs for raking.

Do you mean a hay tedder or a rotary type rake that can also be adjusted to ted hay?

I bought one of the little dual rotor Italian jobs (does about 10' swath) this spring. Paid about $1200 new, but the unit had sat at the dealer for over a year; looked weathered. Have used several times now. PTO driven and pull behind. Nifty little tedder and simple. Kinda fun to just drive around and watch the hay sling out the back.

Rotary rakes that also ted are much more expensive!!!!

Hmm. You got me. I didn't know there was a difference. I'm mostly interested in making a narrower windrow than my 4 wheel ground drive Sitrex. Mines just too big, awkward to do corners, and tends to "fling" the windrow in spots making it too wide for the baler to catch it all. I want something I can pull behind the Farmall B, no 3pt. A 2 rotor is great, low hp and manuverable. Maybe you could educate me a bit?

I like my Duetz Fahr pull-type 2 wheel tedder - does a great job, but I need the capacity of a 4 wheel. Maybe we should swap!

How often do you have to back up with the rake on and how do you go about it? By the way, where are you? Maybe we should talk.
