You need to tighten the brake on the needle carriage more. Thats my guess. I've had the same thing happen with a 347. Tightening 1 or 2 turns stopped it.

Had the same problem with my hesston 4500 a few weeks ago.It would work perfectly running at a low rpm but when we increased to normal speed the same thing that you described would happen. Went through about 20 shear pins. Found that the roller in the knotter clucth would't stop because the little catch inside had become worn due to the roller going over it.After we figured it out it only took about 10 minutes to fix. Hasn't sheared a pin since. Just used a hand held grinder to put a new edge on it. Hope this helps

Hi, When it fails check to see if both sides tie. The one that didn't tie has the problem. Mine had the same problem as the other guy discribed and it was the roller that rides inside the one knotter gear. Bill

I had a similiar problem with my 14T when the roller on the arm that stops the knotters in the home position came off. The knotters would stop in the right spot but would drift, move the needles and make the spunger stop come up. Man, you talk about a rude awakening!
