Does anyone know how old this is? I don't, but think I read somewhere they were made in the late 50's up to mid 60's. But don't quote me on that. Can it be used to cut alpha Hay? Yes, I use mine for grass, weeds, alpha, etc... I have alot of trouble with everything loosing up on it like all bolts on pitman board any answer to why? Do you have bad vibration problems? I haven't had this problem and am just guessing. But if its not cutting clean and or vibrating bad it could cause problems. Does any one have the sizes of the board that pushs the hay in for the next cut so it doesnt jam up? Yes, I happen to have an original kick board and would be glad to provide measurments. Does this type have to swing out to be in operation mode like the old new holland balers? No, That lock is to provide a break away point if you catch the end of the cutter on something. A few extra tips - Never go over the same place twice (that the quickest way to clog one up). If it does clog, stop, TURN IT OFF, and go back and clear it. It will not clear itself. Make sure the blade is tight in the bar. There are clips that holds the blade down. If it is loose, it will clog and not cut right. To tighen it up just take a hammer and tap on the clips. Last but not least, the blade needs to be sharp.
