I thought I had just bought an older MF 12 square baler, but the dealer doesn't seem to want to bring it to me(it's a long story). So off I went to look for another baler and came across a JD 336 w/kicker. I've not seen it but the guy told me it was in good shape. They are asking $2500. What do you think? Does anybody know anything about these balers? Thanks in advance. Casey

The 336 baler is a very good baler. I have been using one since I was 15 years old. I will be twenty in June. This is the only baler that I have ever used also. It is very sinple to use, but as mentioned, it is dangerous, you just have to think. It is easy to adjust and oppperate. When you look at it, you can tell how hard it was used by looking at flywheel side axle. If it was used real hard, it will be all bent up. Also cheak every thing else for wear. My dad bought our baler new, and we have only had to to regular mantnace to it. We did break an axle when the wheel went into a ground hog hole. If you have any more questions, feel free to send me an Email.

Like all machines this baler deserves respect. The kicker can kill just as easily as a new holland can scalp you.the nice thing is you dont have to worry about belts wearing out. Also if you are real good you can pull two wagons and fill the back 0ne first. If the baler is in shape that is a fair price.

Thats a good price for a excellent baler. Just becareful with the kicker they can take your head off if it kicks while standing too close. I like the baler but prefer the belt kickers on the new holland and m.f.

You'll also find that parts and service for a 336 are easier to come by than for an MF12. Make sure you hook the safety latch before doing anything near the ejector, and definitely get a manual for both the baler and the ejector. And pulling two wagons behind the baler isn't a good idea in my opinion. That's a good way of breaking the drawbar under the kicker, and possibly could cause damage to the bale case on the baler itself.

i have to agree with ya on the two wagon thing. my nighbor did that a couple years and one day he was baling up a fairly large hill and all of the sudden..... screech. tore up that baler pretty good....3500$ the repair guys wanted, so....its in his junkpile now. not to mention the barn the wagons hit on the way down..... ..
