I just recently became the owner(its still on the trailer) of a lil manure spreader. I can read part of the writing that says "100 Manure Spreader" the 100 is in a circle. and it looks like it says McCormick above this.It is a tiny lil spreader on rubber tires. It is in great shape and is very stylish looking as it has fenders over all the chains. I am trying to find out if I am right about the make and model. when it was made and if I should give it a coat of paint and a new tire or sell it,,,,Jim

Jim,

I agree with Paul on the pricing. I found a model 200H (horse drawn) out in Kansas for $200 or $250 (can't remember anymore) this past May. REAL nice shape and ready to go. So far I have been offered $750 for it here in Wisconsin.

I know of a model 100 here in Wisconsin that is complete but in tough shape and the man is wanting $250 for it. I have heard them going for $800 when they are in nice shape.

My 2 bits worth,

Old Iron

Hi Jim,
You have the model 100 manure spreader. It is a 40 bushel spreader. The apron chain links are a size "S". The Model 200 spreader was a 65 bushel spreader that was very popular. I have a model 100 myself and have had more people stop and ask me if I want to sell it. I could probably get $450 for it here in south west Pennsylvania. I have seen them go for as much as $700 here at auction in the early spring. Good luck

I think Paul Has the beast Idea Sell It For Beat Offer Take The biders Name and Number and tell them when you will sell. Out west they only go for about $100 tops if working, most of the ones I have bought for free to $35 mostly for parts to keep others runing.

What's worth $100 in one region of the country is worth $750 in another region....

Ask the folks that are lining up to buy it! :) That's your market. :)

I think that this spreader was one made to be pulled by a cub, meant to be used on those last remaining small farms. very handy spreader to have around.

I think you could do good on this one with a paint job and tires. Like F-14 said it is popular with the "horsey" people, and we have a good market for horse related products in this state. The 100 was produced from 1942 to 1955 with 1,579 units made, so you just may find a person with a need in there collection.

I'd say you're right on target. Those little guys are quite popular, if you don't need/want it, and it's in halfway decent shape, you should be able to turn a nice profit on it. Real popular with the horsey set.
