Today I found a JD #9 mower. It is a 3 point mount. I was wondering if this was the first 3 pt. mower series made by Deere? What was the years it was made? I am considering buying it for my 720d. It seemed to be in almost new condition. Anyone have any info on this mower. He was asking $150. Thanks.

Would second all of the below comments, grat mower. $150 is cheap especially since it will fit not only deere but anything with standard 3 point. I would think it was the first Deere 3 point as the #5 and # 8 had wheels. As said before get an operator's manuel and also a parts manuel. They are cheap compared to the info they give and the time they will save you in getting it set up right.

Can't say for sure on it being the the first JD 3pt mower, but the 8 and 8W are trailer types.

I got mine for free....but it was family. Good mower. Second the motion to get a manual. There's one for sale near me, asking $600. You can't go wrong for $150. Don't know when they were made. Parts still available from JD dealer. Buy it.

I have one too and it really works slick, I really like it. If you get it, be sure to send for the manual as it tells how to set it up to your tractor.
