What would cause the bushing on cutting bar to
wear out after cutting approximately 15 acres?
I put a cutting bar in with a good bushing and all new bolted on knife sections and after about 15 acres of cutting, bushing is worn out. While
at New Holland dealership I ask parts man about this problem and he said I should tighten bolt
when cutting bar is half way through its stroke.
Does this make sense ? Another thing he said was that a the wobble drive mechanism may be worn.
My theory is maybe with new knife sections there
is is too much friction between sections and guards. Anyone have any suggestions. Thank you !

I had the same problem with my 477. Take the caps off the bearings on the wobble drive. There are spacers that can be taken out to tighten up on the bearings. Hope this helps.

You bet, the sickle has to be indexed correctly when the bolt is installed. I think if you can install the bolt and tighten the nut thru the hole without moving the sickle it should be right, I sold my 469 a few years ago and gave the manual to the new owner, so can't look it up for sure. Also if the bearings on the wobble drive are loose it will damage the bushing. Seems like you can adjust the bearings by tightening the nut on the ends of the shaft.
