My Hesston PT7 is giving me trouble in a short
crop. The fine hay is not going thur the rollers
all the time. It building up in the reel area and
starts to spill over the top of the reel then it
finally clears thur the rollers. I have adjusted
the reel for a short crop down and in, and it works great in coarse grasses but no good with
fine grass. I've never had any problem like this
in the 12 years I had the PT7. It always took any
hay with no need for adjustment. The rollers are
not as good as they used to be but still look good
Anyone have any ideas, thanks.

There is a adjustment on the left side, held with one bolt and a lever, you adjust it higher to release the hay into the rollers sooner, I had to adjust mine that way, you may also check the reels to see if the "plastic" blocks are all there that move the tines, I had one of those broken as well.

it's the cam adjustment on the left side of the header. it is a lever held by one bolt, you loosen the bolt an move lever up or down. i know cause i just had to adjust mine.

JC, Although I'm not familiar with the PT-7, I've
done enough work on 1209 and 1219 JD's that maybe I can help. If your reel has a cam to position when the teeth release the hay into the rollers, check to see if they are set right. I think they
should release about square to your rollers or slightly below level. If you would happen to have a book on it that would be best. If its never done this before on the same crop in previous years, could anything have possibly gotten knocked out of shape or some type of adjuster loosened? I hope this may have helped. Good luck.
