Do you know, hopefully, if the J.D>> # 9 mower will fit on a J.D. 920?

We have a #9W on an 8-N Ford thats mowed a lot of hay.It works a lot better than the Ford mower it replaced. You need swath board for sure, especially in heavy hay.Check your local J.D. dealer for manual. This mower is old enough that Deere won't have some parts available."been there" Good Luck

You can order manuals from JD but I don't have the number here. Ask over on the Deere board. Tractor Supply can sell you a swath board.

Stores like Tractor Supply have swath boards. Ask over on the Deere board for the JD number to call to order manuals. They will have one.

Big Dog is correct. I recently broke my swath board in the middle of cutting my hay. Made a noticeable difference. I will be making a new board shortly using the old one as a pattern. New ones are available from JD dealers, but the cost is laughable. A piece of plywood and a saw will get you one quick.

I believe manuals are also available from the dealer.

Jerry, The swathboard was to make the end of the just-cut swath lay over onto the cut grass rather than laying on the un-cut grass. This leaves you a clean, visible line between cut & uncut crop.

Jerry: I believe "Binder Books" in Tigard, Oregon have manual reprints for your mower.Their phone number is; (503) 684-2024 or you can "fax" them at 503-684-3990. Like the others, I simply made mine out of a piece of plywood and my electric Jig-saw, complete with the round staff on the end so you can see the end of your mower in tall grass. I painted it real good with three coats of yellow paint and it has served me well for the last two years and still looks good! Lots of luck on your project ! Jim
