I have problems with bale size-there is not enough hay on left side-the string is looser than right side and wants to pull off. I adjusted tines but didn't seem to help and doubled windrows etc. It ties great but can't handle bales in barn. Would appreciate any suggestions
thank you.

I tend to agree with the comment concerning the sharpness and alignment of the blades. Give that a try and see how it works out.

I recently bought a New Holland 68 and the blades were separated by almost 1/2 inch and had bales like you mentioned. Re-alignment significantly improved the quality of the bale.

With the feeder back in the rearmost position bales will tend to have more material in the right side and with the feeder back forward, the bales will generally have more material in the left side. Too much hay in the right side of the bale also is caused by left feeder tines too far toward the right end of the tine bar.

You say you adjusted the feeder fork tines. Did you adjust them to the right? Moving them to the right is the proper adjustment for a loose fill of the left side of the chamber.

There is too much clearance between your slicing knives and it pulls on the hay instead of cutting it clean, you must adjust the plunger rail track over to make the plunger within .010-.020 of the stationary knife or the wood rails need replaced, sharpen the knives while working there.
