Trumble Bug was a name of small earth scraper pulled behind a wheel or crawler tractor. A trip rope caused the unit to tumble to load or unload the dirt. I don't remenber the sizes 1/3 yard?? up to a yard??.. Was there another name for these scapers and are they they still available?

Saw some for sale at Tractor Supply Company in Kingsport Tennessee on 4-15-99. Had been $200, on sale for $100. They were designed to be used with a 3-pt hitch. I guess this is the same thing you are talking about. Wonder if they are advertised in their catalog?

Here is a copy of a letter posted last year on ATIS Farmall Group to the above question:
A Fresno scraper as generically referred to was originally a scraper
made by the Fresno Scraper Co. in Fresno California back when it was
barely a burg. The term came to refer to any hand controlled scraper
which you "tumbled" to empty or vary the cut. They were used in the 19th
century for land levelling, and later predominantly to dig basements,
wide trenches and other areas where a heavy tractor and scraper either
was too heavy or too big in some way. When the San Francisco airport
runways were being built in the bay in 1940, mules and horses pulling
Fresno Scrapers were used to haul the fill out on the initial marsh
fills because even the Cats would sink in too much. After the marshland
ooze compacted or slid out the water, then the Cats started compacting
and pushing dirt into place over the Fresno Scraper applied fill.
I hope this helps out. They are a kick to use
