A couple of years back I got a Case 555 Haybine and the steel crimp roller busted. I was pullin this haybine with a Farmall H and it worked great, so I was told a Hesston PT10 was the same so I bought one and it was horrible, couldnt hardly pull it and the belts were like big rubber bands that always slipped, so I sold that and went to cutting hay witha semi mounted JD sickle mower. Well this guy I work with on hay was tired of the sickle so he wanted to buy a haybine, we went and looked at Case 555 with some missing gear parts.well I have these parts so we thought we could make one good haybine. So we see this old guy who is no longer farming due to a bottle problem, he said all that was wrong with this 555 was the missing parts and a sheared pin where the PTO goes through the tongue ,, I couldnt remember what that pin was for and he was too into the bottle to recall, so we paid him the 300 he wanted, hooked it to my truck and started to pull it up out of the field and I heard my buddy yell to stop, I looked in the mirror and here I am pulling a tongue and no haybine, it seems that "pin" hold the tongue in, the pin wasnt broke, the whole tongue was destroyed where the pin goes in,, so now we have to change the tongue and PTO shafts, before we can drag it the 10 miles home, but at least we werent out on the highway when it happened....Anyone else have a good story????Jim

We were making hay one year and I was running the swather. The guy I was helping was bringing the baler over from where we had just finished when he came driving up with the JD 60 and no baler. He had kind of a funny look on his face as he waved me down. Seems he was coming up the highway, 2 lanes wide, and the drawbar on the 60 broke and the baler came loose. He was quick thinking enough to hit the brakes and get it stopped before it went into oncoming traffic. We were really lucky on that one. I went and retrived it with my IH Scout.

That was a lucky one,, I had the tongue of a New Holland 68 hayliner break once in the field,, it now has a NH 66 tongue in it ,, plus lots of other "custom" parts...
