I have a 269 that allmost jumps off the ground with each stroke of the plunger. I have tried adjusting the slides and bearings, but it didn't seem to help much. Did I adjust them wrong or should I be looking somewhere else? It seems to get better when you feed it a heavy windrow.

I would say you have bearings out of the plunger or your plunger is set too far from the stationary knife or both.
