I'm looking to buy a used round baler and I was wanting some input on what models/makes to stay away from and what ones to consider. The tractor used will be a '68 4020 (dsl, synchro, 2 hyds). Would like to pay around 5,000 or less. Any suggestion are appreciated.

Older balers in that price range I would go with 605 F Vermeer they will make the best bale. The 1560 MF is a 605 F Vermeer made by Vermeer for them and are harder to find but are cheeper.I love my MF and would put it against any baler and are easy to work on.

I would not buy a round baler unless it was a Vermeer. I have two and would not trade them for a new one of any other brand. The 605C can be bought for 2-3000 range, or if you want to spend a little more get an F, it is more of the modern open throat design. I use my 4020 w/ 605C great combo.
