On 6-3-02 there was a post by "Mark" that mentioned a special double section or triplate that goes on the outer end of the sickel bar on a JD #5 mower It is intended to keep the end from plugging up. Does anyone have a JD part # for this special section? I have fought this problem of the outer end pluging up right under the grass board bracket and am hopeful that this special section will cure the problem. Thanks

Ol' Snuffy,

I bought the double section at my local farm store, the same place where I buy guards, etc. The large triangle seems to be a little smaller than a normal section and the one on the end is quite a bit smaller. I just found one that had the same hole pattern as my regular sections and put it on the end of the bar. If you need a part number, I can probably dig it up. It sure helped my problem.

Good luck,

Mark

Thanks, Mark. That's the info I came to this site for. I've seen those special cutters at TSC and Rural King Websites at around $8 for a 2-pack. I held off because I wondered about that third hole, but I guess you don't have to use it.
