Unknown shredders

I was mowing with the old shredder Sunday and hit a small pile of grapevine cuttings, and that did it! I believe it took some teeth off the gears in the shreder gear box. Makes a nasty noise, the driveshaft turns, but the blades do not. The gear box is the type that bolts on with 8 large bolts, 4 bolts on each side. Is it worth replacing or is it better to just buying a new shredder? Where is the best place to buy a gearbox?
