I have a NH super 68 baler and want to know which is the travel position and which is the bale position for the tongue on the baler. Book says left is bale position but doesn't say which side is le.(Depends which direction you are looking). I assume its the left as looking from the rear cause this puts PTO shaft in its sraightest position. I just want to be sure so I'm asking you experts.

Thanx,
Jerry

The road position is when the tongue angles over toward the pick-up head ("fingers") of the baler. The baling position is when the tongue pointing straight forward, toward the tractor.

Check the cable mechanism on your baler that pulls the pin to move from road to field (baling) position. I've got a Super 68, too. The cable and pulley assembly under the baler that runs to the wheel closest to the pick-up head was all corroded and stuck when I bought the baler. When you pull on the rope to change positions, it will also push out a spring loaded pin to temporarily lock that outside wheel and force the tonge of the baler into either the road or field position, depending on whether you're backing up or pulling forward. If you crawl under the baler you'll see what I mean. You'll see the pin easiest if you jack up the wheel closest to the pick-up head and remove it. Good luck.
